Plain English summary: BluCruise is a cruise companion website. We collect almost no personal data. Your trip planning data (saved excursions, port guides, checklist) stays only on your device in your browser — we never see it. If you contact us by email, we store that email. Affiliate links we show earn us a commission if you book — you pay the same price regardless.

1. Who We Are

BluCruise is a cruise companion platform operated at blucruise.com. It is run by an individual operator based in Belgium. For the purposes of EU data protection law, BluCruise is the data controller for any personal data collected through this website.

2. Data We Collect

2.1 Data you provide directly

2.2 Data stored on your device only

BluCruise's "My Trip" dashboard stores the following data entirely in your browser's localStorage. This data never leaves your device and is never transmitted to BluCruise or any third party:

2.3 Data we do not collect

We do not collect or store: account registration data (there are no user accounts), payment card details (payments are handled entirely by Stripe), server-side analytics, IP addresses logged to a database, or any data from children.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use contact form data solely to respond to your enquiry. We do not add you to any mailing list without your explicit consent. We do not sell, rent or otherwise disclose your personal data to any third party for marketing purposes.

Our legal basis for processing contact data is legitimate interest (responding to enquiries you initiate) under Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR.

4. Third-Party Partners

BluCruise works with the following third-party services. When you click an affiliate link, you are transferred to the third party's website, which has its own privacy policy and data practices.

5. Cookies & Local Storage

BluCruise does not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels. We use browser localStorage (not traditional cookies) to save your trip data and consent preference on your device. See our Cookie Policy for full details.

You can manage your cookie preferences at any time via the consent banner or by visiting cookies.html.

6. Your Rights Under GDPR

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@blucruise.com. We will respond within 30 days.

7. International Data Transfers

Some of our third-party partners (Viator, TravelPayouts, Stripe, Google Fonts) may process data outside the EEA. Where this occurs, we rely on those partners' own adequacy decisions, Standard Contractual Clauses, or other GDPR-compliant transfer mechanisms.

8. Data Retention

Contact form enquiries forwarded to hello@blucruise.com are retained in our inbox for as long as necessary to resolve your query, and deleted within 12 months of last correspondence. Data stored in your browser's localStorage remains there until you clear your browser data or use the "Clear trip data" function in My Trip.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of BluCruise after a change constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy. For material changes, we will update the effective date prominently.
